A Navy Vet. of the Cuban Crisis and Viet Nam Era
The Navy was going to be a career choice for me. I progressed through the enlisted ranks to the rate of ADJ-1 or 1st. class jet engine repair mechanic. Everywhere I was stationed was a good experience. I traveled a lot and thankfully my wife liked travelling too.
After making 1st. class we had some serious decisions to make on whether or not to stay in the Navy. All my sea duty until then was land based,With 2 children and shipboard life looming (3 yrs. or more)away from my family made the choice easy. Get out and try civilian life. My personal gain in the Navy was as valuable as a college education is to others now.
I gained a wealth of experience that proved usefull later in life,I travelled, matured,& but most important I learned to enjoy lifes simplest pleasures.
